TableTop Media Makers' Development Lead is board game YouTube veteran, Chaz Marler, whose portfolio includes over a decade of tabletop content creation and more than two decades of web development and ecommerce programming.
This website is an evolution of the ad system that Chaz built and has used since 2020 to sell and manage sponsorships for the videos he produces on Watch It Played. Now, the ad system is being extended to make it a service available to other board game Media Makers as well.
With over a decade of creating board game videos under his belt, Chaz has produced a myriad of YouTube content for The Dice Tower, BoardGameGeek, his own channel Pair Of Dice Paradise, and Watch It Played. And even though Chaz may have a tendency to be distracted by the latest board game releases, creative components, and the hottest titles on gaming tables - he believes that this tabletop hobby is really all about is the experiences that we share with our fellow players.
We are interested in working primarily with publishers of board, card, & tabletop games, and related products & services.
While opportunities may arise for Media Makers to work with advertisers in other industries (such as those ads for audio books, VPNs, and others that we've all seen advertised in YouTube videos), collaborating with those advertisers is not our focus. We'd prefer to keep our sponsors relevant to our members' audience.
Yes. Every Media Maker has an opportunity to decline a sponsorship request prior to any obligation to include an advertisement for that sponsor in one of their videos.
Media Makers can set their ad rates to whatever they like. There is no required rate range. (Keep in mind, though, that setting outrageous ad rates may make one's ad offerings less desirable to potential sponsors.)
Tools are provided to allow Media Makers to structure their ad prices as a flat fee, as a fee per video view, or a combination of both. Each ad listing can also have its prices set individually - even multiple ads that appear in the same video.
Media Makers are welcome to use their own discernment when determining which of their videos they run ad spots in. Of course, certain types of content may more naturally lend itself to running ads. For example, a sponsorship spot may flow better within a general information video, a Top 10 list, vlog, news episode, or livestream; as opposed to in a game review or other video dedicated to another, single product.
The length of an ad's run is determined by the Media Maker when they create the ad listing. Once an ad completes its run, TableTop Media Makers invoices the advertiser, and processes their payment. Upon collection and processing of the payment, the ad revenue, minus TableTop Media Makers' service fee, is disbursed to the Media Maker (Currently, payments to Media Makers are made via PayPal.)
For Media Makers, a 3% service fee is collected on ad revenue prior to its disbursement.
Any additional transaction fees charged by the payment processor will also be applied. (For example, PayPal charges a $4.99 fee to send money internationally.)
For Content Sponsors, a breakdown of all service fees related to an ad purchase are listed on the reservation page prior to completing a sponsorship purchase.
